cluttering up the internet since 2001

Priceless

Today at lunchtime I walked out into the parking garage to get something out of my car.  I passed a guy around the age of 25 who was sitting in the cold on a cement bench reading a book. He was reading Eldest by Christopher Paolini which is a thick book and is second in a series.  The book is thick…really big substantial book, it was the hardcover version.

This one sight made me smile inside so big.  That was hours ago and my innards are still grinning.A guy reading a book.  Priceless. And because I want all boys to read…a coupon!

math

Tonight was test night.  My last night.  The math quiz was multiple choice and I passed both the group test and the individual test. I got a perfect score on the group because we have some truly smart peeps in the class.  I passed this my last class with a 70.6 score out of 100 and yes that is a C- and I could not be happier.  I will most likely never ever face another polynomial, equation or expression again in my life and for this…..let there be wine!!

I should say here….I am not a Math major….and therefore I am happy to simply pass and move onto the good stuff I actually want to learn.  I start another online course tomorrow.  Yes nothing like not losing any precious time.  This course is a research course and I actually can’t wait to write another paper.  Imagine that!!!

blogging world….

I’ve been busy.  With what you ask?  I don’t know.  I honestly don’t know.  I just feel busy.  Not as busy as when I’m enrolled in an online course.  They are all consuming and I love it.  This Math course I am taking on-ground has drug itself out from 5 weeks to 8 because of two holiday evenings we had off.  One for New Years and one for Martin Luther King day.  I feel like I’ve been in this course but not actively in this course forever!  Tonight is the final exam.  I hate taking tests.  However, due to the content and short time in which to learn it, I believe the test is based on group scoring of some type.  Thankfully!  Whew!  So, I have one more night of Math and then hopefully never again.  After that the only trying course I expect to have is Statistics.  But Statistics makes sense to me.  Letter’s added to my math doesn’t.

Work is work….its good and it’s been that way for awhile.  I actually am one of those people that love my job.

I really didn’t make New Years Resolutions because they always fall to the wayside.  However, I did decide to clear the clutter in my life.  IE: work desk, home areas, etc. etc.  I am a paper collector.  Small pieces, large pieces..notes, paper clutter.  It’s the worst.  I am trying to cut back on it.  But the more I try the more it seems to multiply.  But I’m trying and that’s something.

I’m currently reading Lipshitz Six, or Two Angry Blondes by T Cooper.  I’m thoroughly enjoying it so far.

Recently there’s been a lot of talk about certain things online and I find it amusing that blogs are open forums and that because they are public knowledge it’s to be expected that sometimes people are going to disagree on topics. I don’t write here for money nor for acceptance and so long as someone is telling me their viewpoint it’s ok if they disagree with me.  I think it’s wrong to attack anyone but I find it funny that just by speaking your opinion about something on your blog and not agreeing with someone else its seen as an attack.

I think there’s this f’d up who’s who of the blog world and I see it as most things in life.  It’s all about who sucks up to whom, etc.  It’s not really about who the best writers and content providers are but rather who’s liked by the masses and why.  And that’s just plain juvenile in my world.  I would not want to spend hours doing this for money.  I have better things to do with my educated mind.  I started a blog because I was having a hard time coping with the demise of my first marriage.  I didn’t start here, I started elsewhere.  Either way, I find some of the online activity by blogger’s to be interesting and somewhat hilarious.  When it comes to real issues being discussed why is it never ok for there to be more than one viewpoint?  As soon as someone brings something different or opposing to the plate it’s a mess.  I also think that some people live too much within their online world and not enough on the outside world.

The latter I say from firsthand experience.  It’s so easy to get caught up in what is happening online and forget to breath life around you.  I no longer forget that this life I’m truly living is the real one, the rest isn’t.  Yes blogger’s are real people with real lives and opinions but it is what it is.  I take it all with a grain of salt.  I’m not one of those so called “popular” blogger’s and in some circles I wouldn’t even be considered a Mommy blogger because my son is 14 not 4.  But whatever.  It’s all just lingo.

the kid makes me a card “just because”

It’s hard to tell but all of the pieces on this card are individual and he’s glued them onto the card separately. Each letter, box, flower etc are glued on. Around the flower he handwrote flower over and over again to get that design.

His new gf’s Mom owns a scrapbook shop of her own and he’s been taking her classes free. And I’m not allowed to talk about the gf on my blog. Oops.

a little irony with your meat

Earlier today I got into an email exchange with my big sister about wine.  We always said when we resorted to talking about groceries, particularly the cuts of meat, like the rest of our Italian female counterparts that we were then deemed OLD ourselves.  So we kept reminding each other that we were discussing wine and not meat.

At lunchtime I and a work bud drove to the nearby grocery store to buy some fresh fruit for lunch and while there I ran into another Riunite wine.  I snatched it up.  Blackberry…mmmm….for $4.99 it’s worth a try.  My work bud is 4 months pregnant and so no wine for her.blackberry

On my way home from work I called my grandmother (she is the only person I know that does not own a computer and still has a rotary dial phone….I love that!).  I told her about my newfound love of a certain wine and then dropped the word “Riunite” on her.

She responded, “oh honey that’s old news I have a bottle of Riunite Blackberry wine in my refrigerator I like to sip from.”
It was then that I told her “how ironic…I have a bottle of that very wine in my car that I bought at lunchtime today!”

She responded by saying, “Oh…well honey don’t open it in the car.”

*pause*

“Hey how’s the meat in Florida?”
