cluttering up the internet since 2001

22.5%

They say that women with PCOS who take Clomid….well only 22.5% gain success, at least that’s the Google average.  That seems quite the small number.  And yet it not an impossibility to fall into that small percentage I suppose.  I mean those 22.5% of women that are successful probably had doubts too.  Right?

About 10% of those that use Clomid will have twins.  I imagine those ten percent might have thought they’d never be in the 20.5% that got pregnant.

Clomid can cause hostile fertile mucous and thins the uterine lining in over 30 percent of the women who use it. The hostile mucus kills sperm, and the thin uterine can prevent implantation or cause an early miscarriage.

Since my biggest issue over the last year has been a thickening of the uterine wall that has caused alarm in my doctor’s who see this thickening as a potential sign of cancer forming, the idea that Clomid might thin the uterine wall actually might not be a bad thing.

But then again how thin is the thinning?

I get lots of questions about “what are your chances?”  “Did the doctor give you any odds?”

Um…no.  He didn’t.

I honestly think there’s so much information and some of it is just plain convoluted.  It makes you crazy.

There’s also the big debate about Clomid and Glucophage combined and/or just Clomid.  For now…I’m just on Clomid.  Well not yet.

The success rates do appear better if you’ve successfully given birth in the past, this means that perhaps you do not have any other infertility issues that would be deemed “unknown” by any testing.  IE: Your body did it before so there’s a higher likelihood that it might do it again.

Got period yesterday.  That means today is day 2.  We have a calendar and it’s almost crazy because for the first time in my life the calendar means more than just when the electricity bill is due.

Calendar

I’ve also noticed that I only have cramps on the left side….where my one and only ovary resides.  Weirdness.
