I have been reading just as much as always.  However, I haven’t been blogging about it.  I just finished this novel.

I really rather liked it.  It was light reading.  If this book was a movie it would be a romantic without the comedy.  I’m sure however they’d inject some comedy to make the movie work, if it was indeed a movie.  This is not really literary stuff here, but it was good.  This novel is about Elena Alvarez, a woman who had been in a car accident when she was much younger.  The author does a good job at making us feel sorry for Elena but she doesn’t do a lot for making us like her per say.  I did love the use of food in the storyline, because lets face it, even the most normal eaters love to read about extravagant food and it’s descriptions in this novel are wonderful. This book can be summed up like this.  Chef Elena gets an opportunity of a lifetime to be executive chef of a new restaurant named after her chow mix dog located in Aspen, Colorado.  The owner of said restaurant is a famous movie maker and they start to have lots of sex even though they’re both afraid of commitment.  The food descriptions are enough to make anyone drop their diet and binge eat.  The storyline is fragmented in some places but overall this novel is pure bubble gum fun.  It was an easy to read engaging story. It’s about

One brief note about the cover.  It fits the novel.  I hate when covers don’t so I think it’s notable in this case.  Except her dog looks nothing like this.  Dog match failure.

Incidentally Barbara O’Neal is the same as Barbara Samuel and I’ve read some of her earlier novels as well.
