is that really a selling point?

When you look at real estate ad’s and they read “Formerly bought for $insertbiginflatedpricehere”

Does that impress you or just make you sad for some displaced family?

It depends. Many of the “displaced” families got themselves into something they could not afford. Yes many of them were “tricked” or misinformed, those I do feel bad for to a point but I am a firm believer that we all must be educated consumers. If it feels like you can’t afford it – you can’t and you shouldn’t let a bank or mortgage company convince you otherwise.

The families I feel worst for are those who have medical costs drown them out of their home, or families who have lost jobs and not gotten any help or relief form a mortgage they could pay on.

Either way, it’s a bad line for marketing sake. Mark something up so you can mark it down. I want to say, “really are we that stupid” but yes, as a whole we as consumers are. I fall into the trap all too often, ” well it was on SALE” so I had to get it. Bah.
